WASHINGTON, PA, July 31, 2021 — After beginning the harness racing season with six straight losses, Blue Diamond Eyes rolled to her second consecutive impressive victory in Saturday’s $106,745 Quinton Patterson Adioo Volo for 3-year-old filly pacers at The Meadows.

Blue Diamond Eyes got away second for Yannick Gingras, who sent her to the point at the quarter. The daughter of Captaintreacherous-Aria Hanover jogged from there, defeating Beach Crazy by 3-3/4 lengths, in 1:49.4, with Darby Hanover third.

Blue Diamond Eyes banked more than $546,000 last year but was getting checks rather than wins until her 1:49 triumph a week ago in a Pennsylvania Sires Stake leg that matched the fastest-ever distaff mile at The Meadows. Both Gingras and winning training Ron Burke have theories for her slowish start at age three.

“She’s been super-sharp all year, but she’s been in with a tough group of fillies,” Gingras said. “

BLUE DIAMOND EYES REPLAY

For his part, Burke indicated that it took her until mid-season last year to reach, well, mid-season form.

“She started slow last year,” Burke said, “but by the end of the year, she was the best filly racing. She’s big, and it takes her a while to get rolling. From here on out, she’ll be pretty tough no matter who she races.”

Blue Diamond Eyes soared over $700,000 in career earnings for owners Thomas and Scott Dillon. Burke said she’ll next race in a Kentucky Sires Stake leg.
