CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Dustylane Zambucca will have to contend with some hot rivals in Thursday’s featured harness racing pace but will have things her way at the start at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 10-dash Thursday program kicks off at a special Gold Cup Week post time of 7 P.M., with the top pacers of the night meeting in race 9. Gold Cup Week racing will have expanded pods of spectators in accordance with Public Health Guidelines on a first come, first serve basis.
Dustylane Zambucca has rail control Thursday evening with Corey MacPherson holding the lines of the daughter of Camystic for trainer Ron Gass and owner Alexis Gass of Cornwall. The homebred pacer will be searching for win number 12 of her career in the $2,300 top pace.
Gonna Fool Ya is the morning line favourite from post 6 with David Dowling at the controls of his trainee for owners Brittany Watts, Rick Adams, and Matt and David Burke. The Dream Away mare had been racing the preferred level against the likes of Woodmere Skyroller and Dreamfair Zenfire but makes the drop in class to face her seven Thursday foes.
Fluentocity is saddled with post 8 in that class while riding into the race on a pair of victories. Marc Campbell will drive the Blaine Baglole trainee.
Peter MacPhee likes Gonna Fool Ya on top of the Post Time Picks.
“Gonna Fool Ya has missed the top three in her last two starts but was up against the best mares in the region. She takes a dip and moves to post six but those closing panels are impressive so get ready to see her smiling for the camera.”
Also in the featured field are Top Of Her Trade (To be driven by Walter Cheverie), Ubettimagoodone (Gilles Barrieau), Traces Of Purple (Jason Hughes), Killean Finale (Ken Murphy) and Miss Kabana (Brodie MacPhee).
The top trot of the night carries a $2,050 purse in race 7 with Suicide Shift the main choice for driver Steven Shepherd, trainer Harold Shepherd and owner Margo Fisher of New Brunswick. His top rivals are slated to be Incredible Two (Hughes) and The Nun (MacPhee).
