Kwik Talkin dropped in class after a poor Mohawk Park spell and found harness racing success in the Grand River Raceway Preferred 3 Pace on Monday.

The feature win highlighted Travis Henry’s grand slam on Monday (Nicholas Barnsdale Photo)

He made the lead at the quarter pole in :27 in a two-move effort – an initial advance followed by a retake after Pembrook Legacy N (Lorne House) swept by him on the first turn. Driver Travis Henry reined in Kwik Talking in a second quarter that was completed in :56 before accelerating again to deal with outside pressure.

Kwik Talkin brushed aside first-over attacker Whitecookie (Anthony Haughan) with a quick third quarter – finished in 1:23.4 – and entered the stretch with Pembrook Legacy N starting his move from the pocket. The latter paced home fastest of the two, but Kwik Talkin reached the finish in time for the 1:52.2 score.

Pembrook Legacy was a neck short, finishing second. Life Is Better (Paul Mackenzie) gained late at the pylons and took show.

KWIK TALKIN REPLAY

Kwik Talkin, a six-year-old Well Said stallion, is now 15-for-66 lifetime with a bankroll of $217,573. Amanda Fine trains him for Scott and Lisa Henry of Odessa. The horse has won two of his eight tries for the Henrys, who bought him at the start of 2021. He lost four straight races at Mohawk Park before the Monday victory, hitting the board once.

Travis Henry excelled on the day’s 11-race program, recording a grand slam.

Grand River Raceway’s next card is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19. First post for the evening’s 10 dashes is listed at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
