Owners, breeders and trainers are reminded that broodmares in foal must be registered with the Quebec Jockey Club in order for the foals to be eligible to the Quebec-Bred races.
There are special requirements listed below pertaining to what must be done in order for foals to be registered as āQuebec-Bredā for the sire stakes races.
The registration form must be submitted before October 31, 2021. The registration fee is $20.00. There is also a late registration fee of $150.00 from Nov. 1 thru Dec. 31, 2021.

Registration Rules:
– For the offspring to be considered Quebec Bred, the broodmare must remain at least 200 days in Quebec between January 1st and December 31st of the year of breeding. The broodmare must be registered in the mare residency program within the pre-approved guidelines set by the CJQ, which is before 31 October of the year of breeding and the foal must be born in the province of Quebec.
– If the registration of the mare is done after the allotted time, the CJQ will require an explanation of the owner in writing, accompanied by at least one supporting document (eg: transfer papers, canceled check for the sale of the mare, customs paper, etc.) and late registration fees will apply.
– At all times, the CJQ reserves the right to refuse any mare in the program if the proof supporting documents are doubtful, incomplete or nonexistent.
– In the case where the broodmare is sold / leased before completing her residency, but remains in Quebec to meet the terms of the agreement, the foal will then be considered as Quebec bred and will have the right to participate in the * Quebec circuit.
– Please be advised that documentation will be required. For example ; proof of transfer or lease agreement of the mare, new location of the broodmare if applicable, etc.
– Registration with Standardbred Canada must be completed through the appropriate form no later than October 31 of the year of mating. The registration fees are $20.00.
– An entry is considered ālate registrationā if completed between November 1 and December 31 of the year of mating. The late registration fees are $150.00.
– An entry is considered āsecond late registrationā if completed between January 1 and December 31 of the year following the year of mating. The second late registration fees are $500.00.
– To avoid registration deadlocks with breeders, QJC offers a āthird late registration,ā to be completed no later than December 31 of the yearling year of offspring. The third late registration fees are $1,500.00.
– The sums collected under this registration should not be construed as āadded pursesā or amounts used to improve in whatever form or fashion the programs of the Quebec Jockey Club; no refunds will be made.
– Any check returned by the bank marked as āinsufficient fundsā will be considered as a non-performed payment with the inherent consequences.
– As a matter of courtesy, Standardbred Canada and the Quebec Jockey Club will do everything in their power to inform their customers. Regardless of notice, it remains the responsibility of the breeder to ensure that payments are deposited in Standardbred Canada by the date and time provided for this purpose.
– During file processing, the preferred information source is Standardbred Canada, whether for the spelling of the name, identification and address of the owner, etc. Decisions are made based on the information contained in the register of Standardbred Canada, which users must keep updated. Therefore, the Quebec Jockey Club considers the information contained in the Standardbred Canada register to be true and official.
