Down Under winners with Carter Dalgety

Down Under Pacer puts in two gallant harness racing performances and wins twice in one week.

Im Sir Blake A had a very successful week of racing in New York by winning two races within six days.

His first win was on Monday night at Yonkers Raceway in a $30,000 Pace. Brent Miller was at the helm and allowed the son of Alta Christiano to find his feet early from post position three. Reaching the half in nice 55.3 around the half mile (800m) track Im Sir Blake A creeped forward and had a battle on his hands in the stretch with favourite Splash Brother. The down under pacer came out on top in a competitive finish clocking 1:52.0 for the mile.

It was then off to Tioga Downs on Sunday for Im Sir Blake A to compete in the first race of the program, a $9,500 Pace. Trainer Erv Miller had Marcus Miller in the bike who steered the 6yo out from post 7. Settling in third for the majority of the race, there was a runaway leader who was out by multiple lengths, carving out speedy sectionals. Reaching the half in a 55.1, Dexter Dunn let race favourite Chatelroll roll down the back straight and clocked a third quarter in a brutal 26.0. From then on it looked to be a margin job for the leader but a super game Im Sir Blake A dug super deep in the stretch and kept chasing to nab Chatelroll right on the wire. He took victory in a hot 1:49.3 around the 1000m (5/8 Mile) Racetrack in New York.

Im Sir Blake A is only a very new edition of the North American harness racing scene, leaving Australia in March of 2021. His career in his homeland consisted of a Listed Level win and placing along with a creditable 2nd in Group 2 company.
