Tim Tetrick drove six winners

CHESTER, PA – Tim Tetrick, the meet’s leading harness racing driver, kept his hot hand going by driving six winners at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, but neither of the $12,600 co-featured paces fell to him.

The event for male pacers saw two young horsemen with famous last names, Jack Pelling and Patrick Ryder, slugging it out in the stretch, with Pelling and the Somebeachsomewhere sophomore gelding Bay Brute having enough to catch pacesetting Copper Teen and Ryder during a :55 last half to post a 1:53.1 victory by 1½ lengths. Jack’s father Brett trains the winner for Pelling Racing LLC and Bridle Path Stables LTD.

BAY BRUTE REPLAY

In the feature division for distaffs, the Shadow Play filly Barefoot’NPregnant is now two-for-two since coming to Philly from Kentucky, taking a new mark of 1:53.2 while three lengths clear at the end after racing on the engine. George Napolitano handled the sophomore miss for trainer Michael Hall and Let It Ride Stables Inc.

BAREFOOT’NPREGNANT REPLAY

Tetrick did drive the Dragon Again gelding Velocity Komodo to a 1:50.4 lifetime best in an $11,200 fast-class pace. Laying just off a :26.4 first quarter put down by favored Bombshell Hanover, Tetrick was soon out and moving with the Scott Di Domenico trainee, getting the lead and then a fairly moderate :56.4 middle half, which left him with enough to hold off a resurgent Bombshell Hanover by a head in a :27.1 last quarter. Levit and Tritini Stable, Triple D Stable Inc., and Robert Palumbo are the winning ownership.

“Trottin’ Thursday” at Harrah’s Philadelphia will feature a $14,400 headliner for “nw 5 races,” with three $12,600 divisions of the “nw 3 races” for acolytes aiming for the higher level, and a $13,000 fast-class feature.

Upcoming notes about the next few days about Harrah’s Philly: the $320,000 Pennsylvania Stallion Series Championships, for all eight divisions, will be held Sunday at 12:40; the Labor Day Monday card has been cancelled due to a not have enough horses to fill the box as is the big problem bothering most Mid-Atlantic tracks; and the 15th Anniversary Celebration for the Harrah’s facility on Friday, September 10 has seen post time moved up to 6 p.m.
