Ocean City, MD – A short field of freshman harness racing trotting fillies went to post as an early non wagering event on Wednesday Sept. 1 at Ocean Downs.
With miscues by all three early in the race due to strong winds, Charlies Song (Charlie De Vie) secured the lead in the gate to wire victory with Youāll Never Be Me (Camās Rocket) was second and Lady Eleanor (Charlie De Vie) was third. The mile as a slow 2:12 for the winner.
Roger Plante Jr. received the driving assignment from trainer Steve LeBlanc for owners LeBlanc Racing, Glenn Dyke, Count De Money Stable and Wm. Lutz Jr., Dyke is also the breeder.
Despite the remnants of hurricane Ida threatening, the pacing colts and geldings lined up in the second race on the pari-mutuel card.
Reinsman John Wagner sent Anthonyās All In (Rustyās All In) from the 5 hole, finally getting the lead at the quarter pole in 30.3, and from there the pair controlled every fraction in the 2:0.4.3 mile. Rapid Pulse (Quik Pulse Mindale) crossed in the place position. Pam Wagner is the owner-breeder of Anthonyās All In.
The final stakes of the summer season conclude on Wednesday September 8thĀ with four $70,000 Maryland sire Stake Finals for the two year olds.
