Harness racing action returned to London, Ont. on Monday evening at The Raceway at Western Fair District hosted an 11-race card to kick off the fall proceedings at the half-mile oval.
Pat Mcgarry AĀ was a wire-to-wire winner in the added-distance feature in the finale for the trainer/driver duo of J.R. Plante and Brett MacDonald.
The gelding rushed to the lead from Post 5 for MacDonald, and together they led the field through fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:27.2 before drawing clear to win by 4-3/4 lengths over Press Time in a time of 2:04.1 for the 1-1/16 mile event. Partyintheshadows was third in the $9,500 affair.
Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, the five-year-old son of Million Dollar Cam-Lady Pia Lombo won for the second time this season ā and for the first time on North American soil. The seven-time winner has banked over $37,000 to date.
