Get Up N Dance warming up for Nathan Williamson
Eight-win mare Jody Direen led from barrier release and driver Nathan Williamson stayed out of the early rush from gate six. With a lap to run he moved Get Up N Dance up to sit parked and he was too strong for a game Jody Direen and Mucho Macho Man, which came late along the passing lane for third. The winning time was 2-41.8.
āIt was a good run fresh up and I was really thrilled, but surprised at the time. It didnāt feel as though they went that quick,ā Williamson said.

He said Get Up N Dance is nominated for the $30,000 Show Day Futurity at Addington next month run over 2600 metres.
āToday he was ready to go but I think heāll naturally progress because heās still got some of his coat to lose. Heās had a trip to Addington before so thatās going to help him.ā
Get Up N Dance is by Rock N Roll Heaven out of the Bettorās Delight mare Dance N Delight.
āHeās got a handy sort of a motor and can do a bit of work and can stick on, so heās got a good all-round game. Heās still a bit wayward at times but by the time he has another six or seven starts I think heāll get his head around the racing game.ā
Get Up N Dance is raced by his breeders Dale and Kaye Kinzett.
āThe Kinzett family is from Oamaru and theyāre family friends. Dad trained Dance N Delight. She unfortunately went amiss and didnāt race.ā
Daleās father Ken was a blacksmith at Addington in the 1960s and 70s.
āHe then moved down to Oamaru and was blacksmith at the racecourse. He had one or two trotters that he messed around with,ā Dale said.
Williamson also initially trained Dance N Delightās first foal, Shut Up N Dance which created a real buzz when she raced last season.
After having one workout for the southern stable she was then sent north to Woodend Beach trainer Regan Todd because she had leg issues.
Shut Up N Dance raced three times for Todd winning all of her starts at Addington. At her first start she won by ten and a half lengths pacing the 1980 metres in 2-22.3 a mile rate of 1-55.6.
āShe was something. Unbelievable,ā Williamson said.
Dale was on course today to see Get Up N Dance win and he also visited the Williamson stable at Branxholme this morning to see Rise Up N Dance, a rising two-year-old by Art Major go through his paces.
He says Shut Up N Dance will be served by American Ideal while Dance N Delight will return to Art Major.
Meanwhile a number of classy Southland trained horses stepped out at the Goodman Plumbing Winton Workouts yesterday.
