Batavia, NY — Despite some inclement weather and a lightning delay, the track’s dominant diagonal-gaited performers put out some excellent harness racing efforts at Batavia Downs on Friday night (Oct. 15).
Barn Hall (Kevin Cummings) made it two in a row after going gate to wire while holding off the pocket-sitting Mugshots Bro (Shawn McDonough) in the stretch to win by Ā¾ of a length in 1:56.2 in the $13,500 Open I Handicap.
Barn Hall ($12.00) is trained by Steve Pratt who co-owns with Nancy Pratt and the Purple Haze Stable. He is a three-year-old colt by Conway Hall.
BARN HALL REPLAY
E Street (Kyle Cummings) extended his winning streak to three in the $12,100 Open II Handicap after he made a bold brush past the half that allowed him to be second at three-quarters. From there he closed in on the front-running Willie B Worthy (Kevin Cummings) and eventually overtook him by a length in the stretch to win in 1:58.1.
E Street ($8.20) is owned by Margaret Butler and Amy Butler and is trained by Tammy Cummings. He is a three-year-old colt by Conway Hall.
Finally in the $11,250 Open III Handicap, Lunar Credit (Jim McNeight Jr.) got away third while Noble Legend (Jack Rice) took the field to the half in :58.4. McNeight had him out and moving there and Lunar Credit (Credit Winner) took the top by three-quarters and then stretched out to a 2-Ā¾ length victory timed in a seasonal best 1:57.3.
Lunar Credit ($4.30) is owned by his driver Jim McNeight Jr. and is trained by Jim McNeight.
There was a big payoff in the Jackpot Pick-6 in the ninth race on Friday. A 20-cent ticket purchased on the combination of 3-3-2-2-6-1 returned $2,497.20.
Despite that Jackpot winner, when live racing resumes at Batavia Downs on Saturday (Oct. 16) there will still be a sizeable carryover available.
With no single unique winning ticket purchased in the Pick-5 on Friday, there will be a carryover of $9,111 for that bet in race nine Saturday.
