Efforts by North American Amateur Driver Association and the Catskills Amateur Drivers Club to present races for US armed forces veterans who are also amateur drivers is coming to fruition according to NAADA vice president, Alan Schwartz. Competing veterans will help raise funds for the local Veterans Food Bank.
Events are being planned for Veterans Day (a day early) on Wednesday, November 10 and any armed forces veteran interested in competing In the race(s) is urged to contact Alan Schwartz at 845-791-7747 or Monticello Raceway’s Director of Racing, Eric Warner at 845-794-4100 x557.
At the end of the racing program on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11 monies raised will be donated to the veterans food pantry of Sullivan County of New York.
The Veterans Amateur Driving Challenge is open to former servicemen who are also amateur drivers licensed by the USTA and/or the Canadian Trotting Association.
Both amateur organizations are urging those who plan on competing on the race card that day to bring along a non-perishable canned food which will also be delivered to the local veterans food pantry.
