It has been a week of ups and downs for one of New South Wales’ most promising junior harness racing drivers Jack Callaghan.
The 20-year-old has been involved in two race falls within seven days.
Callaghan was driving Te Quiro at Bankstown last Monday when the pacer fell when in front of nine other horses and drivers.
Remarkably, Callaghan escaped any injuries and was back driving at Penrith on Thursday night.
Callaghan drove a double at that meeting courtesy of wins with Mongolian Cavalry and With Revenge.
He then had seven drives at Menangle on Saturday night before backing up at Newcastle today (Monday).
Callaghan landed a winner on the Belinda McCarthy-trained Spirited Belle, however, a race later was involved in another race fall when his drive Hot N Gold broke and fell around the home turn.
Another three drivers were involved in the carnage and were dislodged from their sulkies with one other horse, Fortyeighthenson (Chris Geary) also falling.
Thankfully the fellow drivers, Chris Geary, Darren McCall and Anthony Vaga, and their horses were cleared of serious injury.
