Northfield, Ohio--Starting from the eight-hole on half mile track usually makes for a tough journey and tonight at Northfield Park that is precisely what Bold Strategy had, a trip where he never sat down along the pylons, that is until he cleared to the lead on the final turn and then trotted on to a 1:58 harness racing victory for driver Eddie Miller in the $8,400 Great Lakes Amateur Driver Association trot.
When the starter turned the field loose, Manny Miller sent Riverdance Diva to the lead from the two-hole over the wet race track and they had 1-1/4 length lead over Starsabovealleage when they zipped by the first stanza in :29.
From there they raced one-two past the half in :59.3 and they were still at it up the backside the second time around as Eddie Miller rushed Bold Strategy into the frey as the field trotted by the three quarters. At that point Riverdance Diva went off-stride and Bold Strategy cleared to the lead.
Despite being parked out the entire way he still was the one to catch when the field turned for home. Despite Guilty Desire being on his throat latch, that was as far as he would get because in the lane Bold Strategy was the strong horse and went on to a 1-1/2 length triumph over Guilty Desire. Starsaboveallerage held on for the show dough.
