Northfield, Ohio–It isn’t usual for a harness racing trotter to get away eighth from the two hole and then grind his way back into contention and finally trot to the front at the top of the stretch and go on to a 2-1/2 length triumph over seven others. That was precisely what Larry Ferrari’s So WishfulĀ did in the $9,200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association Trot tonight at Northfield Park.
When the starterĀ turned the field loose Steve Oldford grabbed the lead with Hititoutofthepark and led his competitionĀ by the first quarter in :29.2 with So Wishful languaging at the back of the pack at that point.
OldfordĀ continued to show the way and was being stalked by Eddie Miller with Son Of Sona and the two trotters were first and second when they zipped by the half in :58.3.
Meanwhile Ferrari and So Wishful were making up ground and were sixth at that point. But with a burst of speed up the backside So Wishful rallied up alongside Hititoutofthepark and the two were side by side as they straightened for home.
With his momentum So Wishful vaulted to the lead as they headed for home and at the wire he was a 2-1/4 length winner. Hititoutofthepark was second best and Son Or Sona garnered the show dough.
SO WISHFUL REPLAY
The winner is owned by Kiesha Ferrari and trained by his driver. He paidĀ $6.80 forĀ win.
