Standardbred Canada reports that a number of Ontario’s top sophomore fillies will look to close out their seasons on a winning note in Saturday’s (Nov. 13) SBOA Finals at Woodbine Mohawk Park in the province’s final major stakes event of 2021.
Up And Ready, who vaulted to a 5-1/2-length win in the October 16 Ontario Super Final, will square off against four of her foes from that race in the $144,825 SBOA Trot Final, which attracted a full field of 10 and is carded as the seventh race on the program.
The daughter of Kadabra and Glide By, who has won three times and is closing in on $500,000 in career earnings, is one of two John Bax trainees in the field. Doug McNair is listed to drive from Post 6. Other standouts include P L Opportunity (Post 7, James MacDonald), whose current four-race win streak includes the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots final and a 1:55.3 victory over Up And Ready in a November 6 conditioned event; six-time OSS Gold winner Imextraspecial (Post 3, Trevor Henry); and HP Mama B (Post 9, Sylvain Filion).
Three-year-old female pacers will square off for an identical purse in race five, the $144,825 SBOA Pace Final, and that 10-filly field isn’t lacking for star power, either.
Voelz DelightĀ brings a $506,808 bankroll buoyed by third-place finishes in the Fan Hanover and the Ontario Super Final into the event, but she will have to overcome the outside Post 10. Sylvain Filion is listed to drive the Richard Berthiaume homebred for trainer Ben Baillargeon. David Menary sends two starters: Super Final runner-up Bet On Becky (Post 2, MacDonald) and two-time OSS Gold winner Dabarndawgswatchin (Post 3, Jody Jamieson). Likewise, perennial Canadian training champion Richard Moreau is doubly represented with Game Of Shadows (Post 6, Louis-Philippe Roy) and Simcoe winner Twin B Sunkissed (Post 8, Doug McNair).
First post for the 10-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park is 7 p.m. EST.
