Today’s Gr. III monte Prix Olry-Roederer (purse 80,000€, 2850 meters, four year olds) saw 2/1 Hirondelle du Rib (4f Rolling d’Heripre-Anemone du Rib) score in 1.14.5kr for J.L. Dersoir aboard for trainer Joel Hallais.
The winning breeder/owner is Ecurie Rib with Hirondelle, racing with shoes on, securing her seventh career win now for 219.010€ earned. The 5.1/1 Hacker Boy (4g Akim du Cap Vert) was second for jockey Eric Raffin and breeder/owner/trainer Yves Dreux. Third was 15/1 Historiola (4f Virily de Val) ridden by Mathieu Mottier.
The prior day in trotting action at Nantes was the Gr. III 13th leg of the Grand National du Trot Paris-Turf (purse 85.000€, 3000 meters distance handicap). The 20/1 Eddy du Vivier (7g Rolling d’Heripre-Quille du Vivier) rallied on the far outside to win in 1.12.2kr with Franck Nivard up.
The Patrick Terry trainee secured his 14th victory for 255,460€ earned for breeder/owner Ecurie Jean Yves Lucuyer. 16/1 Doux Parfum (8g Singalo) was second for pilot Eric Raffin and home third was Eire d’Helius (7f Ni Ho Ped d’Ombree) for Mathieu Mottier. The favorite and 50 meter handicapped Cleangame made a miscue in the lane when rallying for trainer J-M Bazire. Well-regarded Fric du Chene was also a miscue dq.
In the USA this week was the Standardbred Horse Sale Company yearling and mixed sale at Harrisburg, PA. The yearling sale results set records. The LeTrot President, Jean-Pierre Barjon, was a major purchaser. He acquired hip 34 Sweet Tactics (filly, Tactical Landing-Buck I St Pat) for $70,000 during the yearling first session. He then bought three stallion shares (Greenshoe for $95,000; two Muscle Hill shares for $95,000 and $100,000).
Two top-flight broodmares also went to Barjon, the $2mm winner Maven in foal to Tactical Landing for $285,000 and Graceful Lady in foal to Muscle Hill for $360,000. Both mares have expected foaling dates in March, 2022. They are rumored to reside at Lexington’s Hunterton Farm. Later today, Barjon paid $410,000 for hip 1391. Empressive Hill (3f Muscle Hill-Slice Slice Baby) that raced last week in the Crossroads of America at Hoosier Park timed in 1:54.2s.
