Yonkers cancels racing after 1st Tuesday

Yonkers Raceway management was forced to cancel its live harness racing program after the 1st race was held on Tuesday, November 23.

The first race on the program, a $12,500 claiming pace, saw Rocket Machine ($13.80) and driver Brett Holland lead from start to finish in 1:56.1. One of the starters in the race, Fast On The Draw, broke down in the race and had to be euthanized.

After the race was official, track maintenance worked on the surface, but it deemed unsafe to continue racing and the remaining 11 races were all cancelled.
