Dreamfair Zenfire and trainer-driver Marc Campbell

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With harness racing driver Marc Campbell back in the bike there was no stopping Dreamfair Zenfire as she easily disposed of her Saturday afternoon Fillies and Mares preferred foes at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Campbell pointed his trainee to the lead and never looked back in the $3,100 class as Dreamfair Zenfire cruised through fractions of 28.4, 58.1, 1:27.1 and 1:57 to win by four-lengths over a wet track rated three-seconds off. Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris share ownership of the five-year-old daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip. Ms Moyse (Driven by Adam Merner) held on for second over The Time To Win (Ken Murphy).

The other top event of the day saw a milestone moment for Freddie as the Majestic Son nine-year-old won his 75th career race in the $2,700 Open Trot in 2:03.1 for trainer-driver Campbell and owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. The photogenic trotter arrived from Ontario in 2016 with 10 lifetime wins to his credit and has gone on to record 62 more wins with Campbell in the seat.

His three other wins came for catch drivers Walter Cheverie and Ryan Desroche, both at the Open Trot level in Charlottetown, while he found his lifetime best 1:55.2 record over Plainridge Raceway in Massachusetts for driver Mike Stevenson during a brief stint in New England in 2018.

Campbell scored a driving triple Saturday as he also won with newcomer St Lads Skip (2:05.1) from the Brendon Mullen barn.

Corey MacPherson gathered up four wins on the 11-dash program as the Cornwall driver visited the winner’s circle with Private Dancer (2:01) for trainer Paul Conway, Maggiesdelight (1:58.4) for Michelle Myers, Magical Cowgirl (2:00.3) for trainer Pat Murphy and Tell Me Why (1:59.3) for Joe MacDonald.

Live racing continues Sunday afternoon at 12:30 P.M. at Red Shores Charlottetown.

Total wager was $53,304.
