It’s the bread-and-butter races that so many of our harness racing trainers and owners rely on.
So, Club Menangle has moved to secure the future of racing at the premier track even further after their board today announced an increase to midweek prizemoney levels.
From the first race meeting in January, 2022 the base prizemoney for mid-week races run by Club Menangle will increase to $9,800.
Prizemoney for these races will be advertised at $9,996, as NSW pays 102 per cent of base prizemoney to ensure all starters receive a minimum of two per cent.
This latest increase has been structured to ensure participants race for the maximum possible without attracting an additional point for a win under the Ratings Based Handicapping System (RBHS).
While the focus in the next two weeks is on the TAB Inter Dominion Championships, the timing of this increase highlights Club Menangleās efforts to balance prizemoney at the elite level with the needs of the grass-roots level of the sport.
The Club Menangle board now turns its focus to metropolitan prizemoney levels with these to be addressed as part of the budgetary process in the new year.
