The ‘Pacing Priest’ Father Brian Glasheen has seen some of the best pacers during his time in the sport.
The 83-year-old rates the likes of “Cardigan Bay and Blacks A Fake are the two best horses I have seen.”
Having travelled around Australasia conducting the Inter Dominion mass since 1978, the year he gained his moniker as the ‘Pacing Priest’, Father Glasheen has his own star aimed at the time-honoured series.
That is the Jess Tubbs-trained Triple Eight who is a $10 chance in heat eight of the Inter Dominion Pacing Championships at Newcastle tonight.
Triple Eight was a fast-finishing fourth in the opening heat before finishing second to Expensive Ego at Bathurst on Wednesday night.
He has drawn inside the second row for his final heat with driver Greg Sugars.
“Greg is a beautiful driver and Jess is doing all the work at home,” said Father Glasheen.
“I have a small share in Triple Eight and it’s very exciting to be part of this series.”
