Dual Miracle Mile champion King Of Swing is on track to taste Inter Dominion glory.
The race favourite remained unbeaten in the three rounds of heats when smashing the track record at Newcastle tonight in the last of the Inter Dominion qualifiers.
He stopped the clock in 1:15.4 in the 2030m event.
The previous track record was just set 30 minutes prior by Bundoran in 1:53.2.
Driver Luke McCarthy urged the entire to the lead where he raced keenly and rolled through the quarters in 28.6, 28.4, 27.1 and 27.2 seconds.
āI probably should have went slower,ā joked McCarthy.
āHeās just a great horse.
āI spent most of the race slowing him down, he touched the wheel he was striding out so much and could have gone another lap!
āHe is right where he needs to be for the Final.ā
The $500,000 Inter Dominion Pacing Grand Final will be held at Menangle on Saturday night where King Of Swing is the favourite to win.
If he is successful, it will be the first Inter Dominion win for McCarthy as well as trainer Belinda McCarthy.
King Of Swing is a son of Rocknroll Hanover with more than $2.4million in earnings.
His closest rivals tonight were Balraj in second and Triple Eight in third.
