CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The finale strides decided the mile as Bugsy Maguire got up in the last steps to win the Sunday afternoon featured harness racing pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Dale Spence supplied the winning drive in the $3,400 Preferred pace as Bugsy Maguire reached up to nail pacesetter Screen Test (Driven by Corey MacPherson) in 1:56.2. Screen Test was second ahead of The Rev (Ken Murphy). Walter Simmons of Summerside holds the ownership papers of the winning son of Bettors Delight while Wade Sorrie does the training.
Spence and Sorrie also teamed up to win with Pictonian Storm in race 9 stopping the clock in 1:57.1.
The Jennifer Doyle stable celebrated a pair of wins as My Land won his third straight on red soil with a 1:58.1 win for driver Jason Hughes and Chocolate Swirl won in 1:56.4 in line to Adam Merner.
Total wager was $43,129.
