Deus Ex NZ, a five-year-old gelding by the New Zealand Cup and Derby hero Changeover, who is standing at Burwood Stud in Queensland, became his sire’s 24th $100,000 winner when he scored a brave, fighting win at Albion Park last Saturday night (December 4).
The gelding had to overcome a difficult barrier draw and a wide passage to post his eleventh success and his fourth from six starts at the Brisbane headquarters track. He rated a slick 1:53.4 over 1660 metres with the final half in 57.5 seconds.
Changeover’s progeny won in three Australian states and both islands of NZ this week.
Other Queensland winners were the two-year-old My Ultimate Victor and Little Change (1:57.6), who both emerged successful at Redcliffe.
In Victoria, Chiller Bay NZ (1:59.3) and Sandoval NZ (1:56.6), scored at Geelong and Gunbower respectively, while Rudi Sarnel notched his eighth win from only 16 starts with his 1:58.1 effort at Port Pirie.
Changeover was also represented by a ‘new’ winner in Crystal Daytom (Oamaru) and Ticking Over (Manawatu), who posted win No. 5.
Changeover has progeny earnings of $2.15 million in Australia and NZ this year.
