It was the Inter Dominion Pacing Consolation but it was no second prize for harness racing trainer Jack Trainor.
The 27-year-old horseman won the $50,000 feature with Pocket Of Terror who raced well throughout the Inter Dominion series, however, just missed out on having enough points to make the $500,000 Final.
But that did not matter for Trainor at Tabcorp Park Menangle tonight.
āWhat a thrill,ā said Trainor.
āIām just happy to be here a year into my training career.
āIām so happy with how the horse went and Iām happy with the Consolation, Iāll take that.ā
Pocket Of Terror began off the second row and Trainor settled the son of Western Terror in the running line.
With 800m to travel, Trainor angled Pocket Of Terror three wide where he had to tough it out to hold off Mach Dan and Alpine Stride with only the barest of margins separating the trio. See the photo finish below:
The mile rate for the 3009m event was 1:57.4.
Trainor has trained 78 winners since the 2013/14 season and has driven 611 winners.
