Etonnant upsets Face Time Bourbon at Vincennes

Etonnant (7m Timoko-Migraine) scored a 33/1 upset in Sunday’s 100,000€ Prix du Bourbonnais ( Prix d’Am Races Zeturf Q2) at Vincennes with Anthony Barrier up. Timed in 1.11.4kr the Richard Westerink owned and trained veteran secured his 15th career win now for 1,053,500€ earned.

Etonnant raced second much of the way and then at mid-stretch began to reel in the 1/10 favorite Face Time Bourbon (6m Ready Cash-Vita Bourbon), who was leading by six lengths and got up for a neck victory over the Eric Raffin reined and Sebastien Guarato trained champion.

Face Time Bourbon took the lead in the Joinville turn and set an even pace (1.11.8kr at the 1500 meters to go mark). The 26/1 Rebella Matters (6f Explosive Matter-Mystical News) landed third for Christophe Martens and trainer Jean Michel Bazire. Etonnant and Rebella Matters earned Amerique invites today.

Zacon Gio and Delia du Pommereux finished fourth and fifth, the formed teamed by Jean Michel Bazire for the first time.

On the undercard Havanaise (4f Ricimer-Version Philo) took the Prix Ariste Hanard (Gr. II, purse 100,000€, International four year olds) for Franck Nivard and trainer F.P. Bussuet clocked in 1.12.1kr. Ecurie Tenor owns this now six-time winner for 355,210€ earned. Sayonara (4f Donato Hanover-Moviestar) was second for Bjorn Goop with third to Huwaga (4f Ready Cash) for trainer/driver Jean Michel Bazire.

In the Gr. III Prix de Mansle (purse 70,000€, 2100 meters autostart, European three year olds) Louis E. Lobell (3m Ready Cash-Derby Lobell) scored in 1.12kr for Eric Raffin in his first victory in France. Alaim Rogier trains the winner for Ecurie Dragon Trotters BV. Inexess Bleu (3g Vittel de Brevol) was second for Alexandre Abrivard and If I Tell You (3m Love You-Don’t Explain) took third for Franck Ouvrie.
