Cream Ridge, NJ – 12/28/2021 The Standardbred Retirement Foundation, (SRF), because of its wonderful donors has so far been 100% successful in helping every trotter and pacer at risk that it knew of in 2021.
Today, it is faced with one last challenge for the year with only 3 days to get it done. Please look at this list of Standardbreds scheduled to ship for slaughter on New Year’s Day.
Most are in Shippensburg, Pa. Each horse needs a home, tax-deductible donations to release from the manifest to ship to Canada, and quarantine donations. Here is the link to see the list of horses in need. www.adoptahorse.org/emergency-horses-need-help.
This is the last effort of 2021, these horses are waiting and begging for help, SRF pleads for them for homes, foster homes, and donations to get to safety. It also is asking organizations with similar guardian commitment clauses in their adoption contracts to help.
These horses have been in the pens for over a week because the slaughter plants closed for the holiday. We were just informed of this situation. Pens do not provide any care for injuries or sickness. Most do not offer hay or water. The pens are so crammed that if water is even available these horses cannot get to it. Their conditions are deteriorating very quickly.
To offer a home, foster home, or for questions please contact Ashley at 609-738-3255, email SRF.socialmedia@gmail.com. SRF is the only organization providing help of this magnitude for this breed. It is leading the way in other efforts to bring change to how these horses are treated and disposed of. It asks individuals and companies to help get this work done by expressing their interest in this effort by emailing SRFassist@gmail.com.
