She is a special horse to connections and Somebeachsomewhere mare Maajida did not let them down when making it a clean sweep in the $130,000 Vicbred Super Series Final at Melton tonight.

Having had success in the two and three-year-old finals, Maajida completed the treble in the four-year-old edition when driven to perfection by reinsman Greg Sugars in the Group 1 for owners Atworthy Park Group.

Overcoming her inside second row draw, Maajida found her way to the front and held off a challenge by Spellbound to beat the second favourite by more than six metres in a mile rate of 1:53.5.

She has now won 22 of her 37 starts and with earnings of $628,980 is the richest daughter by her sire.

“She’s a special horse,” said Sugars.

“She very rarely has ever let us down, she was a great filly and a great mare and that was a great win.”

Maajida is trained by Emma Stewart who also trained the winner of the Vicbred Super Series four-year-old boys final with Honolua Bay.

Also by Somebeachsomewehere, Honolua Bay found his way to the front with driver David Moran and rated 1:53.7 to win the $130,000 Group 1.

Honolua Bay extended his winning streak to five in-a-row and has now secured 14 wins in 21 starts.

He is raced by Lauriston Bloodstock who were also successful in the Vicbred three-year-old fillies final with Ladies In Red.

Also trained by Stewart, Ladies In Red produced another tough effort to race outside the leader and claim the $130,000 Group 1 – the daughter of Mach Three’s 17th win in 20 starts.
