Grove City, Ohio – A bottle of Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Century Limited Tennessee Whiskey will set you back about $2,000. For another grand you could have had Ohio’s 3-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year, Smothastenesewisky.
A $3,000 purchase at auction, the daughter of Nob Hill High, has been life changing for harness racing trainer-owner Brian Haynes and his wife MacKenzie. Smothastenesewisky won seven of 19 starts including the $300,000 Ohio Sire Stakes finals earning $280,574 in 2021.
Haynes says this year has been breathtaking, “Going into the year we thought she could be competitive. Her personality is basic, she doesn’t need to be pampered. She just likes to do the work.”
Bred by Robert Mondillo and Donald Robinson, Smothastenesewisky has 15 career wins and earnings of $358,555.
Smothastenesewisky will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Annual Awards Banquet January 15, 2022, at the Hilton Columbus-Polaris in Columbus, Ohio. The 2021 Ohio Horse of the Year will be announced at the annual awards banquet.
