CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Mikey Camden was dead set on making every call a winning one in the final preferred pace of the winter harness racing meet on a special Monday evening (Jan. 31) program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
David Dowling missionized the Colin Johnson trainee from post 4 in the race 11 Preferred pace and went all the way to claim the gold in the $3,200 contest. Mikey Camden sprinted to the lead in 28.2 then set down a tempo of 57.4 and 1:28.2 before fighting off the Gilles Barrieau trained duo of The Rev (Driven by Barrieau) and Mc Pat (Adam Merner) in the stretch drive to win by a length in 1:58.1. The victory puts trainer Johnson on top of the Red Shores training standings, where he will remain until racing return in the Spring. The ownership papers of Mikey Camden, a 10-year-old son of Camluck are held by Debbie Element of Village Green and Raymond Huschka of Great Britain.

Barrieau scored a driving triple on the evening winning with Woodmere Soul (2:03.4) and Do U Mind (2:00.3) both from the Ron Matheson barn.
