With a first-over move against pacesetter Jody, Lit De Rose and driver/trainer Pat Lachance were able to grind it out in capturing the $39,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Yonkers Raceway Thursday.
Jody and driver George Brennan left from post four and took command of the 8th race feature to the opening quarter mile in :28.1 with Rockn Philly (Scott Zeron) sitting the pocket-seat as they raced past the half mile in :58.3.
It was in the backstretch at the three-quarters in 1:27.1 that Lachance came first-up with the race favorite Lit De Rose and was second by a nose at the top of the stretch.
Lit De Rose came on in the stretch to win by one length in 1:55.4 over Rockn Philly with Jody third.
LIT DE ROSE REPLAY
It was the second win in four starts this year for Lit De Rose. She is a seven-year-old mare by Leader Bayama. She was bred and is owned by Guy Corbeil of Quebec and paid $4.20 to win.
