Unbeaten Lovedbythemasses and driver Tim Tetrick remained unbeaten in 2022, scoring his fourth straight harness racing win in a romp at The Meadowlands Saturday in the $34,500 Preferred-Handicap Trot.
Racing over a sloppy track, it was Yanks Dugout (Joe Bongoirno) that took early command after the start of the 10th race feature with Warrior One (Yannick Gingras) grabbing the pocket trip as they went by the opening quarter mile in :27.1.
Gingras, who owns Warrior One, came right out after the quarter mile and took the lead away from Yanks Dogout and then faced a fast challenge first-over from race favorite Lovedbythemasses and Tetrick.
By the half mile in :56, Lovedbythemasses took over the lead for good, holding the field at bay by the three-quarters in 1:24 and throughout the stretch, winning by four open lengths in 1:51.1. Yanks Dugout was second with Warrior One third.
LOVEDBYTHEMASSES REPLAY
It was the fasted victory this season for Lovedbythemasses. The five-year-old gelding by Muscle Mass is trained by Jeff Cullpher, who co-owns Lovedbythemasses with Pollack Racing, LLC. He paid just $2.40 to win as the 1/5 favorite.
āHe really started to get good at the end of last summer,ā said Cullipher, whose three winners led the trainer colony on the card. āHe won an invite on Hambletonian Day and we thought he could continue to get better. Heās come back super sharp after a break and we have him staked to all of the major aged trotting races in the U.S. this year.ā
