New South Wales’ top harness racing driver Cameron Hart has a huge day ahead and the question is how is he going to do it?
Not only does he have four Group 1 drives at Bathurst tonight, the 23-year-old has engagements at Newcastle today.
Hart will drive in the first three races at Newcastle with his last drive scheduled at 1:56pm.
He then has to make the four-and-a-half-hour car drive to Bathurst for his first drive there in the Gold Tiara Consolation at 6:40pm.
“It’s going to be tight but I’m hoping I will get to Bathurst in four hours,” said Hart.
“I tried to look at getting a flight but I couldn’t get anything.”
Hart has three drives for trainer Jarrod Alchin at Newcastle with pacers My Ultimate Snowy, My Ultimate Chevron and My Ultimate Billy in races one, two and three respectively.
“My Ultimate Billy is a really nice horse and should go well,” said Hart.
The Group 1 winning driver will not even have time to take his silks off before he jumps back in the car to head to Bathurst’s Gold Crown meeting.
Hart has drives in nine of the 10 races.
His key drives there are Madrid in the $100,000 Group 1 Gold Bracelet, Iambecauseofyou in the $100,000 Gold Chalice, Miss Exclusive in the $110,000 Gold Tiara and Naturally Gifted in the $110,000 Gold Crown.
“I really like Jack’s (Trainor’s) horse (Iambecauseofyou) and can make use of the good draw,” said Hart.
Hart will start his day sitting on 625 winners.
