Vernissage Grif (8m Varenne-Dalia Grif-Park Avenue Joe) controlled the tempo with trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro in the sulky and held off late charging Black Flash Bar (5f Oropuro Bar-Marcique-Daguet Rapide), handled by Santo Mollo, to post a three-quarter length victory in today’s Gr. I Gran Premio Costa Assurra at Torino (purse 154,000€, 1600 meters autostart).
This was the winner’s 32nd career win in 95 starts. Race time was 1.10.9kr, better than Billie de Montfort’s 2021 victory in 1.11.1kr.
Zacon Gio (7m Ruty Grif-May Glade Font OM-Yankee Glide) followed cover and finished third four lengths back with Roberto Vecchione up for trainer Holger Ehlert. Amon You SM (5m Love You-Emon Sante Fe SM) landed fourth for Andrea Guzzinati. The 2020 winner Cokstile was sixth.
