Gold Digger King and harness racing driver Tyler Smith were able to hold their nine rivals at bay in capturing the $30,000 Open Pace Saturday at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
The ninth race feature saw Gold Digger King leave out from behind the starting gate for Smith and take early command with Rose Run Ulysses (Kayne Kauffman) grabbing the two-hole spot to the opening quarter mile in :26.4.
Then going past the half mile in :55.3, Gold Digger King was still in command and coming up first-over from fifth place after starting in the second tier was Prince Of Tides (Tony Hall), and they gave live second-over cover to the race favorite, Sectionline Bigry, and driver Brett Miller.
Down the backstretch to the final turn, Gold Digger King was still firmly in command as Sectionline Bigry edged closer to the race lead at the three-quarters in 1:23.4.
Coming down the stretch it was all Gold Digger King and Tyler Smith as they were able to hold off Sectionline Bigry to win by a half a length in 1:51. GD Western Joe (Chris Page) was third.
