On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.

NORTH AMERICAN FEATURE
It’s not often a horse achieves the $2 million dollar earnings mark but it happened last week when the grand performer Melady’s Monet won at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon in the in the $22,500 handicap harness racing trot feature . The win was the 84th of a magnificent career.
AUSTRALIAN FEATURE
Seldom do track records fall by this much. The Emma Stewart-trained youngster Encipher demolished the all-aged track record at Globe Derby on Saturday night. The 1:52.4 run lowering the previous mark, set by Mark Dennis, by some 1 1/2 seconds. The Southern Cross, Breeders’ Crown and Vicbred features are stated goals for the exciting type going forward.
NEW ZEALAND FEATURE
The Pacers Flying Mile took place at Cambridge Raceway on Thursday. A competitive open-class field contested the $45’000 dollar feature. In the end a #1 barrier draw proved enough for Hot And Treacherous to dictate terms. The progressive son of Captaintreacherous proving too strong in the run to the line although it got tight late!
