A Little Bliss for Morris in $100,000 Final

Prominent Sydney harness racing reinsman Robbie Morris will complete a busy week at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday (May 21) when he partners Little Bliss in the Group 1 TAB Regional Championships – Metropolitan Final for his good mate Troy Williams.

The mare grabbed the last spot in the $100,000 feature when she finished an eye-catching second behind Major Jared in heat five on May 10. After being shuffled back along the pegs, Little Bliss was probing for a run rounding the home turn and Morris moved her to the extreme outside where she rattled home, only going down by a neck.

LITTLE BLISS REPLAY

She will start from gate five in the final and while she will be sent out as one of the outsiders of the field, Morris believes with luck, she can upset her more fancied rivals.

“Going on her run in the heat, she is certainly a genuine contender,” said Morris.

“She got a long way out of her ground in the heat and dashed to the line strongly to be only beaten by a bare margin.”

“Troy has done a great job with the mare as she has won five races for him and it would be very satisfying if we could upset the apple cart and win this Group 1 with her.”

Morris will travel to Newcastle tomorrow (Friday May 20) night where he will drive Sir Richard Lee in the consolation of the Hunter TAB Regional Championships.

The charismatic reinsman is on target to again crack 100 winners in a season, which is a feat that he has achieved for the past ten terms.

Currently Robbie sits on 48 winners and with more than seven months remaining, it seems inevitable that he will reach the lofty goal again.

Morris will head to Penrith this evening (Thursday May 19) with a book of four drives.

“I am actually quite keen on the chances of the four that I am driving tonight.”

“Money Honey has drawn poorly in the first but she is the class runner in the field. If I land a good spot early, she will go close to winning.”

“Bettor To Be Tricky (race 5) is one of the stable favourites. He has drawn nicely and is flying at present.”

“I also fancy Shadow Eclipse in the last. He loves the Penrith track and I think he is ready to win again.”
