It going to be a huge weekend for South Australian harness racing – Friday night (May 20) the participants get to glam up at the HRSA’s night of nights the Horse of the Year Awards.
Then the action turns to the track at Globe Derby Saturday night (May 21) with the running of the SA BOTRA Silver Salver Finals. Two $50,000 Group 2 races for two-year- olds of both sexes, that either passed through the sales ring in 2021 or were made eligible by way of non-sale entry.
The colts and gelding division see the impressive first up winner Jamaican Rock take on the Alyce Finnis-trained Lethal Louie who won first up at Horsham then chased home Rupert Ross in a heat of the Kindergarten.
Pole marker Indelible Mase also impressed first up and if the pace is on may well have the sitting shot at the leaders in the home straight.
The fillies final will see Laylas Princess will start from the covenant gate one and if the Betterthancheddar filly can hold the top will be mighty hard to beat.
Two Victorian fillies will make the trip the Isabel Walsh trained Liberty Crest and Damien Burns charge Majorholeinmypocket the later being the first of the Major Secret progeny to grace the starter.
The time honoured Norman Memorial for mares is the other feature on the program, action starts at 6:53 p.m.
