Wiener Dog races return to The Meadows

WASHINGTON, PA, May 24, 2022 — Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is going to the dogs — wiener dogs, that is.

On Friday, May 27, The Meadows and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association (MSOA) will host wiener dog races during the live harness racing card, which begins at 5:10 PM.  The dashing dachshunds will contest qualifying heats following races 3, 4, 5 and 6, with the top three finishers in each heat returning for the final after race 8.

The champion will take home a $250 betting voucher plus a dog basket from Discover Pet Health. Heat winners and place and show finishers in the final also will receive prizes.

The wiener dogs annually are among the most popular promotions at the track, and this year’s event will be enhanced by other fan-centric activities. The MSOA will offer a free Family Fun Night featuring a balloon artist, a face painter and a stilt walker. In addition, Friday marks the kickoff of the Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival at The Meadows, meaning fans can enjoy a variety of delicious meals and snacks.
