Is Don Fanucci Zet coming to race in USA?

The top European harness racing trainer Daniel Reden recently made a statement about Don Fanucci Zet (Hard Livin) and the horse’s racing future and where his escapades may lead him, which includes a possible trip to the United States.

Don Fanucci Zet won the 2021 Elitloppet in stakes record time in the final heat last year. The trotter/pacer bred is from the Western Terror pacing mare, Kissed by The West.

He is one of the top trotters in all of Europe.

Don Fanucci Zet is owned and bred by the Zet Stable, who races horses in the United States as Brixton Chemicals.

Here is what Reden had to say.

“Last winter, the plan was to have Don Fanucci Zet start in the Prix d’Amerique,” Reden explained. “However, the horse became ill and that mission was aborted.

“At present, we have no plans for a new adventure in France with this horse,” Reden said. “However, another country has come up. We might go to the USA instead.

“It would be fun to go there with him once.” Reden said. “Set a world record on a mile track. He would probably fit very well on that type of track and go very fast. It would be fun to show him off and finish his career there.”

“He has a stallion career to think about as well,” Reden added. “And I think it is going to be very, very good considering the different breeding he has.”

So, is this the farewell song for Don Fanucci Zet?

“Yes, but that’s obvious,” Reden said. “He has won the Elitloppet once and has already started to stand at stud. His foals look very nice. He is not a horse that will continue to race until he is eleven years old. I don’t know when he will retire. He has to decide that for himself.”

While no racetrack in the USA has been named, the two likely tracks would be the Meadowlands in New Jersey or the Red Mile in Kentucky.
