Mt. Hope, OH – Lordy Lordy (Muscle Massive), the sale topper at the Mid-Ohio Memorial Trotting Horse Sale brought a whopping record price of $1,375,000 Friday afternoon.
Located in the heart of Amish country USA where there were an estimated 10,000 people in attendance, Lordy Lordy was just the 16th horse sold of the 153 in the sale catalog.
Consigned by Andrew & Andy Byler and David Troyer of West Farmington, Lordy Lordy is a five-year-old bay stallion is from the Glidemaster mare Grace Victoria.
As a two-year-old, Lordy Lordy won three of his five starts with a record of 1:57.1f. At age three he did not win in 8 starts except for a qualifying win in 1:55.1f.
Purchased by Shady Lawn Stables of Humble, Illinois, Lordy Lordy will be standing stud there. Within a hour of being sold, representative of Shady Lawn Stables had announced at the sale that his stud fee would be $4,000 and that they were selling breeding shares for $16,000.
The previous sales topper record was in 2021 when Majestic Monarch brought $490,000.
Harness racing trainer Greg Peck of Muscle Hill fame at one time owned Lordy Lordy’s second dam, Grace Marie, who was second in the Merrie Annabelle and was named after Peck’s mother. Peck also had the mares daughter, Grace Victoria.
“It’s hard to believe this stallion brought so much.” Peck said.
While final figures were not announced as of press time, the sale’s second highest horse sold was hip number 46, Stinglike A B K, a six-year-old black stallion by Andover Hall from the American Winner mare, Winning Miss Brenda.
Consigned by Joel Yoder and Enos Graber at Slate Acres Investments of Baltic, Stinglike A B K brought $750,000.
Stinglike A B K raced at the Meadows and Yonkers through 2021 with 11 wins, $132,294 in earnings with a record of 5,1:55h.
The sale began on a very positive note as hip #1, Howe-Stormy, a four-year-old black stallion by Deweycheatumnhowe from the Credit Winner mare, Wygant Dixie Girl, was sold for $450,000.
