CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Sons of A Rocknroll Dance shut down Charlottetown Saturday evening (May 28) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park with open length harness racing wins in the final two races.
Time To Dance dominated the $3,300 preferred pace in race 9, leading at every call to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths in 1:55.2 in line to trainer Marc Campbell for owners Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and Matthew MacDonald of Edwards, Ont.
Screen Test (Driven by Corey MacPherson) was second ahead of Moonwriter (David Dowling).
It was career win number 34 for the six-year-old, who has been undefeated in two outings in 2022.
TIME TO DANCE REPLAY
The late double would be completed by another son of A Rocknroll Dance as Legendary Ron commanded the lead in the $2,700 finale in race 10 to win by two-lengths at 9-1 odds for his second straight trip to the winner’s circle in line to Dale Spence for owner Doug Matheson of Cornwall and trainer Nicholas Oakes.
LEGENDARY RON REPLAY
The victory was number 25 of the seven-year-old gelding’s career as he defeated second place My Land (Jason Hughes) with race favourite Cowboy Logic (Harold Shepherd) completing the $170.00 triactor ticket.
Soccer Hanover (Dragon Again) won the second highest class of the night with a 1:55.3 victory by five-and-three-quarter-lengths in race 3 for a $2,900 purse for driver MacPherson, co-owner and trainer Leith Waite and co-owners Leslie and Spence Waite of Charlottetown.
The eight-year-old has been perfect in three starts on P.E.I. in 2022 after racing the winter meet at Pompano Park in Florida.
Live racing continues Sunday afternoon at Red Shores Summerside with a 1 P.M. opening post time featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for three-year-old pacing colts and fillies.
