SUMMERSIDE, PE – Getting away last was not enough to stop Soccer Hanover’s (Dragon Again) onslaught in the Friday evening harness racing feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway as part of a four-bagger by driver Corey MacPherson.

Corey MacPherson

The Cornwall driver guided Soccer Hanover to the back of the pack in the $3,100 featured pace and watched post 1 starter Coasttocoastshark (Driven by Devon Wallace) park out Moonwriter (David Dowling) through the opening fractions of 27.4 and 56.3.

Soccer Hanover then began his second-over advance on Moonwriter’s back and capitalized on the quick opening fractions as he tipped three-wide at the third station of 1:26.4 and took control around the final turn to win by two-lengths in 1:55.4 for his fourth straight win to remain undefeated on P.E.I. this season.

Mantario (Damian MacLellan) was second ahead of Moonwriter who hung on for third. Leith Waite co-owns and trains Soccer Hanover for co-owners Les and Spencer Waite.

MacPherson also drove winners The Big Chase (Western Paradise, 1:59.4) from his own stable, Ironside Seelster (Thinking Out Loud, 1:59.3) for trainer Darla MacEachern and Ruby Rae Crow (Well Said) from the Kyle Williams barn.

Walter Cheverie had a driving and training double on the program winning with Nogreatmischief (Bettors Delight) in a $2,400 event in race 7 in 1:57.1 and in a maiden breaking score in race 4 with newcomer Courageux (Sunshine Beach) in 2:01.4.

Charlottetown driver Adam Merner also had a triple on the night winning with T Ls Betty (Pang Shui, 1:58.3) and Kataparka (Well Said, 1:57.2) for trainer Melissa Rennie and Tradition (Always B Miki, 1:58.3) from the Gordie Hennessey barn.

Dorabella (Daylon Boy) was the upset winner of the evening win the opening dash in 2:00 at 70-1 odds for driver Ken Murphy and owner-trainer Philip Desroche.

Live racing continues Saturday evening at 6:30 P.M. at Red Shores Charlottetown.
