Last month Harness Racing New South Wales Stewards commenced investigations in relation to a number of positive swabs.
New Inquiries
- 10 May 2022 ā Mrs Stacie Elliott – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that ethacrynic acid had been detected in the post-race urine sample taken from Enemy Lines following its win in race 3, the Mates4Harness Pace (1609 metres) conducted at Newcastle on Monday 28 February 2022. The reserve portion and control solution were confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Victoria.
- 10 May 2022 ā Mr Gary Spencer – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Scopolamine had been detected in the post-race urine sample taken from Louigi following its win in race 7, the HRNSW 2YO Guaranteed Pace (1609 metres) conducted at Newcastle on Friday 6 August 2021. The reserve portion and control solution were confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Victoria.
- 17 May 2022 ā Mrs Ashlee Grives – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that naproxen had been detected in the post-race blood sample taken from Freddy Singh following its win in race 10, the Final Night Marquee 25th March Pace (2260 metres) conducted at Bathurst on Wednesday 9 March 2022. The āBā Sample was confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited in Victoria.
Inquiries concluded
- 17 May 2022 ā Mr Rodney Coelli pleaded guilty to charges issued by HRNSW Stewards pursuant to AHRR 231(2) and AHRR 247 in relation to his conduct during a Stewardās Inquiry held at the Leeton Harness Racing Club meeting on 1 January 2022.
In relation to AHRR 231(2), Mr Coelli was fined $1000 ($500 of which was wholly suspended on the condition that Mr Coelli does not breach any conduct related rules for a period of 2 years).
In relation to AHRR 247, Mr Coelli was fined $2000 ($500 of which was wholly suspended on the condition that Mr Coelli does not breach any conduct related rules for a period of 2 years).

Appeal Decision
- 2 May 2022ā Mr Blake Hughes withdrew an appeal against the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his driverās licence for a period of 10 days pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) at Tabcorp Park Menangle on 5 March 2022.
- 25 May 2022ā Mr Cameron Hart withdrew an appeal against the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his driverās licence for a period of 7 days pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) at Tabcorp Park Menangle on 19 April 2022.
Integrity information
During the month of May 2022, HRNSW Integrity department obtained 857 Race day samples.
As per normal HRNSW procedure all samples have been submitted for analysis.
