Called In Sick (Bettors Delight) won his third straight race on Friday (Jun. 17) at Grand River Raceway and made it three wins through four starts in his debut harness racing season.
Despite taking the first turn wide, the gelding fulfilled Brett MacDonald’s order to take point in a :28.4 opening panel. He led six single-file opponents to the half in :59.2 and brushed off pressure from Master Fencer while heading to three-quarter in 1:28.3.
The gelding then separated from pocket-sitter Rivercruise and sailed home to a 1:57.3 victory by three-and-three-quarter lengths.
Rivercruise finished second. Donoghue Seelster (Anthony Haughan) was third. The win return was $3.10.
CALLED IN SICK REPLAY
Tim Myers trains the winner for David Omicoli of Macomb, who purchased the gelding before his first career start in May. Called In Sick’s three consecutive tallies have resulted in a three-for-four record to date with $11,400 in earnings.
Grand River Raceway is set to resume racing on Monday, Jun. 20 at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
