Armycaptin Hanover (Captaintreacherous) extended his reign over the top harness racing class at Fraser Downs on Monday (Jun. 20) with a fourth consecutive victory in the Open.
He raced in third position for Kelly Hoerdt through :27.1 and :56.4 first-half splits and launched his winning first-over move as they approached three-quarters in 1:24.4. Mach Steady (John Abbott) put up futile resistance from the lead, but Armycaptin Hanover muscled past to a half-length victory in 1:53.
Kootenay Santanna (David Kelly) slid up the pylons to take second. Mach Steady held show.
The win price was $5.60.
ARMYCAPTIN HANOVER REPLAY
Hoerdt trains Armycaptin Hanover and owns the six-year-old with Blair Corbeil. The gelding has won 26 times and raked in $171,851 in 92 attempts. He is five-for-15 this year.
Moosette (Hes Watching) won the Fillies and Mares Open with Scott Knight in the sulky. The five-year-old mare moved first-over from fifth in the third quarter and clawed herself to the front as they entered the stretch to score by a length-and-a-quarter in 1:56.
Mystic Shadow (Bradley Watt) was second over Bohemiam Rhapsody (John Abbott). Win backers got back $3.10.
MOOSETTE REPLAY
The mare has won 18 of her 52 career starts and has earned $134,028. Jim Marino trains the Shale Stables homebred.
Knight bagged five winners on the 13-race evening.
Racing at Fraser Downs returns on Monday, Jun. 27. It will be the trackās final card until September.
