Revenant (If I Can Dream), five weeks after taking the season-opening top class dash at Northside Downs, captured the Winners-Over for a second time on Saturday (Jun. 25) at the longest odds in the six-horse harness racing field.
The eight-year-old inhabited the pocket after Johnnie Jack (Ryan Campbell) blasted by the inside starter into the first turn and took command. Revenant (Shawn Lynk) sat second as Johnnie Jack cut :27.4, :57.2, and 1:27.3 while fighting off the first-up Gentry Seelster (Greg Sparling).
Lynk activated Revenant as they swept into the last turn, and the gelding flew past Johnnie Jack to win by a length-and-a-quarter in 1:57.3.
A Better Man moved up from the three-hole to finish second. Johnnie Jack finished third. The winner paid $23.60.
REVENANT REPLAY
Revenant opened the Northside Downs season with a Winners-Over win and scored once more previously in a conditioned event. The gelding is 16-for-97 lifetime and has a bankroll of $44,363. Lynk also trains him for Kyla Macdonald of Stanhope, Tyler Lynk of Port Morien, and Colby Lynk of Reserve Mines.
Ryan Campbellās triple was the top driving performance of the day.
Racing returns to Northside Downs on Sunday, Jul. 2.
