Summerside, PE (July 8, 2022) – The historic Red Shores Summerside Raceway will be hosting the 54th Running of the Governor’s Plate this year. The race along with the week of harness racing festivities leading up to it are one of the exciting highlights of the summer season for the industry and the community.
Festivities include:
July 8 (Tonight) – Governor’s Plate Eliminations
July 12-16 – Governor’s Plate Week with racing every day and new programing on the tarmac
July 16 – The 54th Running of the Governor’s Plate Final presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge
The top four finishers in the July 8th Elimination races will compete in the Governor’s Plate Final on Saturday July 16th.
Fans and customers can expect a strong lineup of racing throughout the week featuring Atlantic Sire Stakes for two-and three-year-old pacers and trotters, Ruby Chappell Final for Aged Mares, Bob Dewar Memorial, and the Basil Whelan Memorial trophy will be presented to the top driver of Governor’s Plate Week.
Customers will also enjoy new tarmac programing that includes local brewery display, Canada Games night, a taste of PEI and trackside BBQ’s. Online customers that play the harness racing product during the week get entered into promotional plays through HpiBET.com.
