Northfield, OH – Tyler Smith entered Sunday (July 10), needing just two wins to reach another harness racing milestone in his career. In town to drive in the Buckeye Stallion Series, he scored a victory aboard Carmen N The Devil (Well Said-Mcdance Desire) and in the finale aboard Lancaster Hill (Well Said).
Smith wasted no time taking the lead with Lancaster Hill, leaving the gate alertly heading into the first turn. The field was in straight alignment at the opening quarter of :26.3, but Smith had a handful of horse and caught a :29 breather at the half in :55.3.
Heading to the three-quarter pole in 1:23.1, Toot Toot N (Ryan Stahl) and Slater (Patrick Beeler) were his closest pursuers, but Smith asked Lancaster Hill for more, and he responded, opening up by two lengths on his rivals.
Lancaster Hill drew off in the stretch, winning by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:51, defeating Drew The Dragon (Billy Davis Jr.) and Just Bookem (Ronnie Wrenn Jr).
LANCASTER HILL REPLAY
Lancaster Hill set a new lifetime mark in his tenth career score with the victory. He has $146,140 in career earnings for owner Elliot Deaton and trainer Ryan Deaton.
Smith is quickly approaching yet another milestone, as he has just shy of $40 million in career earnings.
