SUMMERSIDE, PE – Itsuptoyou grabbed the lion’s share of the fastest A-division of the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old harness racing pacing fillies on Wednesday evening (Jul. 13) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway as part of Governor’s Plate Week racing.
The Kevin MacLean trained Itsuptoyou (Rollwithitharry) was the victor in her $16,640 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-division for rookie fillies stopping the clock in 1:58.3 for driver Corey MacPherson and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford.
The filly sat the two-hole in Wednesday’s race as Redland Misspretty was missionized on the front striking the quarter in 28.3 line to Gilles Barrieau then getting to the half-mile station in 57.4. Three-quarters were reached in 1:28.1 with Itsuptoyou reaching up in the final station to win by three-quarters of a length over JJ Amelia (Driven by Mark Bradley) with Redland Misspretty third.
The other $16,640 A-split was won by Elm Grove Redwine (Stonebridge Terror) for trainer-driver David Dowling in 2:00 over Rosetown Mary (MacPherson) and Royoz Allie (Ken Murphy). Brittany Watts of Springvale shares ownership of the filly with Alex Quinn of York and Carl Peterson of Hunter River.
The $3,000 B-division saw Gosistersoulsister (Arthur Blue Chip) land on the wire first in 2:01.2 for driver Campbell, trainer Jamie Smith and owner Groupof7 Stable of Charlottetown. Smith had a pair of training wins on the night as Singing Ramona won race 1 in 1:59 for driver Adam Merner.
Divide (A Rocknroll Dance, Danny Gillis) won the evening finale in the Gentleman Jim’s Restaurant Pace in Memory of Cam Cameron with a 1:55.4 score. The filly is owned by Donald Gillis Jr, Port Hood, NS and Beverly McIssac, Fairview, PE.
Live harness racing continues Thursday evening (July 14) at Red Shores Summerside with the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacing colts.
