There has been plenty happening during winter for Trent Yesberg and it continues when he starts three harness racing horses at Addington on Sunday.
Well ahead of anything on the racing front, the Ohoka horseman and wife Sarah have announced they are expecting their first child.
As far as the racing goes, Yesberg been lining up his share of horses recently with his harness team in good form during the winter months.
On top of that, Yesberg has also recently lined up his first starters in the galloping code.
Rocknroll Diva (A Rocknroll Dance) has been flying the Yesberg flag on the harness front, winning three of her last six starts including her last outing at Addington last weekend.
Stepping up in grade in race 5 on Sunday, hopes are high the mare can continue her strong form.
āShe is in great form and she has come through that last race really well,ā Yesberg said.
āShe just seems to be in a really good space, I expect another honest performance from her.ā
āShe probably hasnāt looked amazing in her wins, but she just has a bad habit of waiting for the other horses and then kicking on.ā
āIt probably doesnāt look overly flattering, but she is doing it a lot easier than it looks.ā
Yesberg also lines up Itz To The Macs (Mach Three) in Sundayās amateur driverās event.
From barrier 5 with driver Ben Laughton, the mare looks a major threat.
āSheās not far away, she has run some of the fastest sectionals of the race in her last few races which has been really pleasing.ā
āShe has just been caught back in the field in her races.ā
āThere doesnāt look to be too much speed inside her, so we might have a wee go.ā
āShe seems to be picking her form back up which is nice and hitting the line quite good.ā
āMatty (Williamson) was really happy with her last run, but she just got caught back and wide.ā
āI am sure Ben will be pretty positive on Sunday and he will put her in the race.ā
Tim Williams drives Rocknroll Diva, as well as the Yesberg trained Wynberg Watch (The Pres) in race 7.
The trotter must bring his manners, but if he does he looks winning hope.
āHe is a real enigma, he has plenty of ability.ā
āHe has shown at the trials ā when Matty drove him he went 3.06 at Ashburton and wasnāt out of second gear.ā
āBut he is a real enigma, one day he wants to run out really bad and the next he wants to run in really bad.ā
āTim said he probably would have won if he could have steered him around the bend when he ran third at Addington.ā
āBut he had to keep checking him around the bend.ā
āHe is a bit of a head-scratcher, but he has been like that his whole life.ā
āWe have decided to persevere with him because we like having trotters in the barn and he has enough ability.ā
Yesberg heads into Sundayās racing on 48 career wins, with 10 coming this season.
